FEEDING & EATING DISORDER:

BINGE EATING DISORDER

Lifetime prevalence estimates of DSM-IV anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder are .9%, 1.5%, and 3.5% among women, and .3% .5%, and 2.0% among men (1). Binge eating disorder is the most prevalent eating disorder and hence is important to have the knowledge on how to diagnose & treat this condition.

Psychotherapy is considered the first-line treatment for binge eating disorder, and pharmacotherapy should be considered as an add-on to psychotherapy.
