Sorry forgot to mention she had an adverse reaction to Abilify as well (not sure what it was as she wasn’t under my care and parents don’t remember).
A previous provider got genetic testing, and I even called the company and they said there was not anything genetic that could account for this.
Do you think it’s worth it for her to see an allergist? Maybe there is filler in the meds causing the issue and that’s why she is having adverse reactions with so many? Is this even possible?

Edema was only to Vraylar and Seroquel.
The others had a “negative reaction” … unfortunately I was unable to get any further details (even though records were requested)

Yes, she had the short allele, which increases the risk of side effects (but only slightly according to the research, so I didn’t put much weight on this genetic factor, but am avoiding SSRIs based on clinical features). Thank you.

this is very helpful…and a chapter on this might be helpful to others

Thank you! Xyrem is being prescribed by the sleep specialist so I don’t have much control over that, but will attempt to coordinate care. Thank you for these very helpful points.

Thank you. He is typically more hypomanic than depressed.

@Dr. Harvinder Singh
I agree no amount of alcohol is good with lithium.
It is important for this patient (without alcohol use disorder) to be able to drink 5 or so drinks on an occasion with his friends on the weekend on a monthly basis or so. Would you suggest avoiding lithium if this is his plan…just not wanting to throw it out so easily as it is gold standard? Or is there anything we can do to mitigate a risk there?
