(1) OCD as Familial & Heritable:
  • Do genetics play a role in OCD?
  • OCD heritability risk from twin and family aggregation studies.
  • OCD Risk for probands with childhood-onset OCD versus with adult-onset probands.
  • Which gene has the strongest association with OCD risk?
(2) Risk of OCD with Structural Brain Abnormalities:
  • Insult to which brain structure can produce OCD behaviors?
  • Results of post-mortem studies.
(3) Serotonin Hypothesis & Efficacy of SRI:
  • History behind findings that serotonin dysfunction causes OCD symptoms.
  • Did studies find the serotonin hypothesis to be valid?
  • Studies on the role of adjuncts to SSRIs in Partial or Nonresponders.
  • Neurobiology mechanism of serotonin hypothesis.
(4) Glutamate: from Neurobiology to Treatment:
  • Role of Glutamate in OCD treatment.

(5) Learning Theory & Efficacy of CBT:
  • Understanding Basics: Conditioned Stimulus [CS], Unconditioned Stimulus (US) and Conditioned Response (CR).

(6) Neurocircuitry of OCD:
  • Which brain regions are affected in patients with symptomatic OCD?
  • How do these brain areas change with treatment: (a) Medications, (b) ERP; (c) TMS; (d) DBS; (e) Neurological Lesions
  • Understanding the basics of Cortico-Striato-Thalamo-Lortical (CSTC) loop.
  • Which CSTC loop abnormalities are known to cause OCD symptoms?
(7) Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS):
  • How is TMS device for OCD different from conventional TMS?
  • Brain regions targetted with TMS.
  • Role of dTMS & rTMS in OCD.
(8) Neurosurgery for OCD:
  • Difference between Dorsal Anterior Cingulotomy and Anterior Capsulotomy 
(9) Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS):
  • What is the exact target for DBS electrode for OCD?
  • STN DBS vs VC/VS DBS.
  • Role of Hyperdirect Limbic Pathway from CSTC loop.
