Metformin for treatment of antipsychotic induced weight gain.

Patient was initiated on metformin for treatment of antipsychotic induced weight gain.
Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) done prior to initiation of metformin was 90 mL/min/1.73 m2.
During follow up visits, eGFR fall below which level is criteria for discontinuation of metformin?

Answer: 30

eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m2: Metformin isContraindicated

eGFR between 30-45 mL/min/1.73 m2 : Initiation of metformin is not recommended

If eGFR falls below 45 mL/min/1.73 m2 during metformin treatment: assess the benefit and risk of continuing therapy

If eGFR falls below 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 during metformin treatment: Discontinue metformin.
