MDD Augmentation: S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAMe)

We continue our lecture series “10 Augmentation Strategies for MDD” with our ninth lecture on the role of SAMe as an augmentation for major depressive disorder (MDD).

S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAM-e) is a naturally occurring compound that is involved in various biochemical processes in the body, including the synthesis of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. Studies have suggested that SAM-e may be effective in treating depression, although more studies are needed to confirm these findings.
