Has anyone had patients experience hyperprolactinemia on antidepressants especially Zoloft? Any literature on this? One of patient’s primary blames the hyperprolactinemia on Zoloft which is rarely heard of.

I had this happen twice. First time PCP requested I lower Zoloft (prolactin when down), second time, the PCP added cabergoline 0.5 mg QD to her medication regimen; prolactin level decreased.

Literature review found highest incidence of SSRI associated hyperprolactinemia for:-

    Sertraline > Fluoxetine > Paroxetine > Fluvoxamine

Note that Sertraline has the strongest dopamine reuptake blocker among SSRIs.
